Strawberry is a 3 year old filly who has had 60 days training with me. She is owned by Mary Ann and Ginger Ewing of Adrian. She is an exceptional horse. As you can see she is being ridden by Ginger. She is very sweet and calm and was a breeze to train. The neighborhood kids came over to ride the ponies and very quickly Strawberry was added into the entertainment because of her gentle nature. She really took care of the kids and took it slow and easy when they were riding.

Handy Dandy
This palomino mare is very athletic. She shows great promise and I can't wait to start her under saddle because she moves like a cat...three different directions in one second. She reminds me of Mary the Brumbie from Australia. Mary is my all time favorite horse, we'll see if she can be topped. She is from Ron Lay who ranches in Medical Springs, Oregon. Mesa calls her Dandylion which is Dad's compromise because Mesa really wanted to name her Flower. And we couldn't have that because flowers just don't move like she does. Did you see how focused she is on me in the top picture? She's a cool horse.
First Day
This is a 2 year old gelding from Jack Ulrich of Marsing, ID. This is the first round penning session where he learns to square up and catch me. This will help him gain trust with me and also it will help make it even easier to catch him everyday. For a while to the left.....
and after a while, squaring up when asked by me.
This horse also wore a girth strap and packed marine bouys to help desensitize. He also packed a snaffle bit for a lot of the day.
Giving To Bit
This is Ron Lay's grey gelding who is learning to give to the bit. After about 15 minutes of this technique on each side, this horse was able to be ridden for the first time today. The technique of "bitting-up" is helpful when I begin to flex the horse. It gives me control and keeps the horse and myself safe during those first few rides.
Gypsy Cobb
This is Yukon who is a gypsy cobb and owned by Sue Hodgson from Union, OR. He is an extremely gentle horse to work with and experienced the Blm hills several times. Here he is just being ridden at our home place. To check out Sue's other horses and Mini Aussie pups go to her website at www.miniaustralianshepherds.com.
